Movement Creative

Who We Are

We are passionate for movement.

The Movement Creative is a nomadic movement studio in New York City that blends the ethos and practice of parkour with skills and lessons from other movement disciplines. We are a community that supports one another in creating and maintaining our own regular movement practices through communal exploration and development. We make NYC our gym, with classes all over Manhattan, and use our city to make us stronger.

Playful Professionals

We say yes to fun! We approach our work from a perspective of play. This doesn’t just mean in our designs and programs, but also in our mindset and approach to problems. While we take our work seriously, we don’t hold back sharing passionately, positively, and playfully.

Teachers & Students

We believe there are no secrets in our industry. We love explaining exactly what we do, how we do it, and why it matters. We also are always looking to invent, reinvent, and envision a better way--and love to collaborate in that process.

Powerful Partners

The power of partnership is real. We have partnered with public, private, and not-for-profit groups all over the country realize their vision for movement & play, including gyms, schools, museums, city agencies, community associations, and art teams.

Movement Researchers

Our team is constantly learning and researching other disciplines to create fun, complex, and interesting movement experiences every time you come to class. We are obsessed with providing value and don’t believe in one-size-fits-all / over-specialized approaches to movement.

Our Founders

Jesse Danger Founder & Partner I was one of the first practitioners of parkour in the United States, finding the discipline in 2004. I immediately connected with the underlying philosophy of "be strong to be useful" and brought that into every aspect of my life. My vision as a teacher is to help others embrace and be comfortable with self-growth through perpetual self-challenge. I believe in being present to the challenges life presents to you and in being strong enough to create the mental, physical, social, and temporal environments that will help you positively grow. Caitlin Pontrella Founder, Partner, & Architectural Designer At a young age I learned how movement was an important part of nourishing my body, mind, and heart. Today I love to share a blended practice, pulling from parkour, climbing, lifting, dance, archery, qi gong, and meditation. This practice also strongly informs my work as an architectural designer and artist, and drives my desire to create spaces that invite people to play!  Check out a recent interview about Designing for Play!

Nikkie Zanevsky Founder & Instructor As a college senior, I watched my first parkour video and finally felt I wasn’t alone in my desire to PLAY. I’ve always found it silly how kids are encouraged to move on playgrounds while adults sit and watch... At what age are we too old to have fun, exactly? My mission is to normalize movement exploration for all ages, genders, and ability levels. All you need is a sense of curiosity and the will to challenge yourself. My dream is to see more families doing parkour together. MOVNAT LVL 2 Certified
